Capt. Rich Knox of Absolute Florida Flats Fishing and Guide Service reports excellent fall conditions from bait fish migration, great weather, optimal Fishing preferences right now. The inshore flats fishing is outstanding with multiple inshore fishing slam’s a common occurrence. Snook fishing, Red-fishing, Trout fishing all caught in the same day and sometimes in the same location, is happening now. Most of the areas inshore estuary system entrances and fishing flats near there mouths are loaded with hungry fish ready to beef up for the cool winter on the scaled sardines that contain a protein rich food source that enables all the species to make it through a leaner time. Great fishing on these fishing guide trips using light tackle spinning 8-10 lb. test with a short 3′ piece of 20 to 25 lb. fluorocarbon shock leader. The west central Florida gulf coast, Clearwater, Tarpon Springs, New Port Richey areas abound with all these fishy neighborhoods.
The Nearshore fishing is very good at this time and should remain this way for a couple month’s or more, as the predator fish follow the bait and the bait is just off our beach’s, Gag- Grouper, King-Fish, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Shark and more move closer to shore with the bait-fish and falling water temperatures. We begin our days with a picture perfect sunrise and cast net up a baitwell full of sardines, pin-fish and grunts and go to the fish ! Fall fishing is my favorite time of year to fish the Florida Central gulf coast, wonderful conditions !
