Excellent Conditions and Fishing

IMG_2441Absolute Florida Flats Fishing a fishing guide service on the West Central Florida Gulf Coast for over 23 years reports excellent fishing at this time in our area !The Snook spawn is in full swing from the inshore main-shoreline to the barrier islands and even close offshore on rockpiles in the shallow Gulf of Mexico. Area fishing guide Capt. Rich Knox is finding nice sized Snook from New Port Richey, Tarpon Springs to  Clearwater,Florida, the best bait at this time is a full blown horse minnow (pilchard), followed by a good sized threadfin hering to a grunt or pinfish on the sand, using light tackle spinning rods spooled with 10-15 lb.teast Spiderwire Ultra-Cast with a 4-5′ piece of flourocabon leader and ayour favorite live bait or circle hook to match the size of your bait ! Cast uptide of the fish and let the natural speed of the current sweep your offering into them, when you feel the bump reel fast until your tight on the fish then set the hook one good time and hold on !

Tarpon Fishing here on the Florida Gulf Coast is really happening now with our normal weather pattern’s happening, it;s a bit of hunting them on our expansive beach’s but when you find the right bunch your in for some fun. We are using 50 lb. braid with a 60-80lb. flourocarbon leader to keep these acrabatic and exceptionally strong fish from breaking us off  ! Be ready for the fight of your life, not for novice fisherman unless your really a good listener and up to the long battles !
