Early Sping Fishing

Tarpon Springs fishing guide,  Capt.Rich Knox reports running several fishing charters on the inshore flats of Tarpon springs to Clearwater and New Port Richey this week.  The beginning of the week was red hot,  just falling off the new moon, Red-fish, Spotted Sea Trout and some nice flounder were all on hand using a combination of select shrimp and pilchards most area fishing flats were productive, free lined seem to work better as the terns were really bad, diving on all the baits cast, some fish came on popping cork rigs.  Forget about chuming unless you enjoy un-hooking the sharp beak birds.  Trophy fish were to be had but we caught good numbers of fish, all keeper sized fron 20″ to 34″  and about 16lb.  Adam and Father Tim Haley from Kentucky had an outstanding 1/2 day fishing charter, landing 25 + fish of the above mentioned species.  the weather that is going to hit this weekend will only stall the early spring fishing were enjoying, all our fish came on light tackle spinning rods spooled with 8 lb. test, true sportsman !
