Captain John Fischbach of Absolute Florida Flats fishing a long time Guide Service running fishing charters on West Central Florida’s Gulf Coast providing inshore fishing, Flats fishing and Nearshore fishing, Capt. John is a born and raised fishing guide for a broad area of the Florida Gulf Coast Tarpon Springs, New Port Richey, Clearwater, Palm Harbor and Dunedin ! This week’s Fishing reports that snook fishing is great. Live bait fishing with pilchards and threadfin herring has been producing great catches. Red fishing is very good and Trout fishing is the best that it is been in years with the healthiest numbers that I have seen in three years. Tarpon Springs Tarpon fishing has been spotty, it is still early as the season is really about to begin when water temperatures hit the 78*F mark, yet productive with mid-spring cool Downs and a couple of cold fronts late in the spring. After today’s last Windy cool morning there will be an extreme warm up into the nineties in air temperature with water temperature in the mid-seventies in the morning reaching low eighties in the afternoon. Fishing is great it really fires the fish up with cool downs and warm ups. The lack of rain that we have had will soon come to an end. Other catches includes Spanish mackerel inshore kingfish flounder and jack crevalle. If we do not see the Tarpon in their usual hangouts first thing in the morning we move on to inshore snook fishing, red-fishing, trout fishing and many more predators looking for a tasty pilchard ! though always keeping an eye peeled for a giant Tarpon to roll and catch the sunlight, it looks like the flash of a mirror, there’s no mistaking them.
