Captain John Fischbach a successful and knowledgeable Fishing Guide reports Great year round fishing continues to create lifelong lasting family memories and team building relationships while fishing on charters with Absolute Flats Fishing And Tarpon Charters along the West Central Florida Gulf Coast. I recently had the opportunity to fish a man and his two sons. One, Austin 11 years old and the other, Logon age 6. We headed out to start the 3/4 day charter at a warm water discharge to work some jigs tipped with live shrimp where Spotted Sea Trout have been Feeding. The kids had a difficult time working the lures, I could see the excitement and determination in their faces while Jerry, the dad was multi tasking, running his business on his cell phone and fishing simultaneously (not uncommon on charters). They were getting trout strikes and getting their shrimp stripped before they could set the hook! So I decided to move around the area trying to get them on some fish that would just take the bait and run.

SUCCESS! I knew of an area that was holding the old mighty Jack Crevalle, in a warm water eddie (warm water adjacent to a cold water flat moving in Circles) by the hundreds. (Jerry could not answer his phone at this point as the action was non-stop) A drag screaming, line stripping fish that would provide adrenaline rushes and non stop action! And it did, double and triple hook ups for the remaining duration of the trip. Young Logon graduated from a push button reel he uses back in Pennsylvania to a Light Tackle spinning outfit, casting, and hooking these powerful fighting fish ALL ON HIS OWN– GREAT JOB Logan! Austin was full of eagerness to hook up, casting and working the baits as instructed, veering off the consistent rhythm required. As a professional Saltwater Light Tackle Specialist, I must adapt to not only the variables with wind, water temps, tides and moon phases, but most importantly the skill of the anglers on board, with these skills I was able to put smiles on their faces and complete a very successful charter.
