Absolute Florida Flats Fishing and Guide Service ran several fishing charters this past week, producing multiple inshore fishing slam’s. Snook-fishing, Red-fishing, Trout fishing and many more species were feeding heavily on the return of the summer bait-fish spawn. Capt. Rich Knox had the pleasure of Rod and Chris Rahn from Pennsylvania, soon to be Florida full-time residents. Between the two, they carded six inshore fishing slam’s, (Snook, Redfish, Trout) same day, most of the fish were keeper size, the key is to cast– net up a bait-well full of pilchard’s in the morning, some for the hook and some to live chum with. Using light tackle spinning gear spooled with 8-10 lb. braid, line to line connection 25 lb. fluorocarbon leader of about 3′ in length, finished with a Gamakatsu 1/0 live bait hook. Fishing a 1/2 day fishing guide trip, the fish didn;t seem to mind weather the tide was incoming or outgoing. We methodically fished the Tarpon Springs to New Port Richey inshore flats, and didn’t get much of a break other than a short boat ride to our next destination. These excellent conditions should only improve, with a little cooler weather, October, my favorite fishing month !
